I know you will

Three score and ten are given to man,
But ours is a much briefer span.
So, though I gave you all my heart,
The time came when we had to part.
But all around you, you will see,
Creatures that will speak for me;
A neglected pet, a hunted thing,
A sparrow with a broken wing,
Pity and help - I know you will
And somehow, I will be with you still,
And I shall know, although I'm gone,
The love I gave you lingers on.

      Hi Burleighbuddies.

      I am so sorry for your sad loss.

      One thing that may help, is to volunteer at your local animal rescue sanctuary.   This will give you a sense of purpose, at this difficult time, and will also help significantly with your feelings of loneliness after losing your dear companion.

      Well said and you're absolutely right.  I know that now, that I have lost my little baby girl and will never get her back....  :(

      What I miss most since Jessie has passed is her unconditional love that you can tend to take for granted with your pet when they are still with you.  I both love and hate to see someone walking in the park with their dog.  They might be looking at their mobile phone or otherwise occupied as the dog jumps beside them, tongue lolling out of their mouth, tail wagging desperately - just simply happy to be out with their owner.  I am so jealous now of that relationship (it makes me miss Jessie with a pain in my heart and I have to look away).  I know if I was that owner, I'd be 'in the moment' with my pet rather than off in texting land.

      Our pets don't ask much at all of us - they just need to be loved and for the person they love the most, to share their world.  So share their enthusiasm with them - let them know that you love being there with them doing what they are doing - you will triple their joy and yours as well.
