Kermit the frog, teddy, treats and going for walks
Affectionate, sensitive, caring, cuddly and the most wonderful companion
I chose my little friend from the Blue Cross in Wonga Park when he was approximately two years of age. He was a very nervy little fellow with some very strange foibles. A tougher little dog you would have to go far to find. Apart from the usual veterinary visits e.g. vaccinations, teeth cleaned etc he never had a sick day in the ten years I was lucky enough to have him until last Christmas Eve when he had a really strange seizure. I rushed him to the Werribee Veterinary Hospital where he was put on oxygen and massive doses of Vitamin K in case he had been poisoned as his blood levels were extremely low. After twenty four hours I received a call informing me that Herbie was a very sick little dog and would probably not make it through the night. He was bleeding internally! He was diagnosed with Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia (IMHA) and at his age there was not much that could be done. He passed away peacefully in my arms.
Although it has been nearly five months since his passing, not a day goes by without a tear being shed. I have a shrine to him in my bedroom and every time I leave the house I tell him I will be back soon.
I loved you with all my heart little Herbie and will never forget the love you gave me in return. I miss you so much today and am looking forward to meeting you on the Rainbow Bridge in the future.
